The film follows Nick O'Bannon, a college student who experiences a terrifying premonition during a visit to a racetrack. In his vision, a catastrophic accident causes debris to fly into the stands, killing him and his friends. Nick manages to persuade his friends and several other spectators to leave the arena moments before the disaster occurs. However, as the survivors soon discover, one cannot cheat Death. The Grim Reaper returns to claim the lives of those who escaped, utilizing a series of increasingly complex and gruesome "Rube Goldberg" style accidents.
