Founded in 1948, Cinema United is the largest exhibition trade organization in the world, representing more than 31,000 movie screens in all 50 states, and more than 30,000 screens in 80 countries worldwide. Director Takashi Yamazaki has been vocal about his love for the Showa era of Godzilla. The decision to create a black and white version was born during the post-production of the main film. They realized that without the distraction of color, the textures and lighting of the CGI Godzilla looked eerily realistic—almost indistinguishable from the suitmation effects of the 1950s.
