Report: Ashly Protea 48 Series Installation & DLMS Software Integration Subject: Installation Procedure and Software Configuration for Ashly Protea Processors Date: October 26, 2023 Equipment: Ashly Protea P4.8 / P4.12 / P4.24 Processor Software: Protea System Software, Ashly DLMS (Device & Location Management System) 1. Executive Summary This report outlines the technical procedure for installing the Ashly Protea 48-series DSP hardware and configuring it via software. It specifically addresses the integration of DLMS (Device & Location Management System) functionalities, which allows for remote monitoring, control, and preset management over a network. 2. Hardware Installation (The "Protea 48" Unit) The Ashly Protea 48 series (typically the P4.8, P4.12, or P4.24) is a Matrix Processor. Proper physical installation is critical before software configuration begins. 2.1 Rack Mounting

Location: Install the unit in a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Ventilation: Ensure minimum 1U spacing above and below the unit for convection cooling. Do not block the side vents. Earthing: Ensure the rack chassis is properly grounded to prevent ground loops and EMI interference.

2.2 Audio Connections

Inputs/Outputs: The "48" typically refers to the maximum channel count or 48kHz sample rate architecture depending on the specific sub-model. Connect source inputs (Mic/Line) and destination outputs (Amps/Speakers) via the Euro-block connectors or TRS/XLR interfaces depending on the chassis backplane. Phantom Power: If using condenser microphones, ensure the software phantom power switch is enabled after physical connection. software dlms ashly protea 48 install

2.3 Network/Control Connection

Ethernet Port: Connect a Cat5e or Cat6 cable from the processor’s Ethernet port to the local network switch. Static IP: For permanent installs, it is highly recommended to set a Static IP address.

Default: The unit ships with DHCP enabled. If no DHCP server is found, it may default to an Auto-IP (169.254.x.x) address. Direct Connection: If connecting directly to a PC, use a crossover cable or a standard switch and set the PC’s network adapter to a matching subnet. 3. Software Installation & Initial Discovery 3.1 Required Software To control the Protea 48 hardware, you must install the Ashly Protea Software Suite .

Download the latest version of Protea Software from the official Ashly Audio website (Support > Software Downloads). Install the software on a Windows PC (Windows 10/11 recommended).

3.2 Device Discovery (DLMS Component) The DLMS functionality is built into the Protea Software environment. s Ethernet port.

Launch the Protea Software. The software will broadcast a discovery packet over the network. If the PC is on the same subnet, the device will appear in the Device List . Troubleshooting: If the device does not appear:

Check the Link LED on the processor's Ethernet port. Disable PC firewalls temporarily to allow UDP broadcast packets. Use the Ashly "Device Locator" tool to force a discovery at a specific IP.
