For the uninitiated, the rules of a classic key party are deceptively simple. Five to ten couples arrive at a host’s home. The men ceremoniously place their car keys into a communal bowl (or fishbowl, or velvet bag). At the stroke of midnight, the hostess draws the keys one by one. Whichever keys a woman draws dictates which man she will leave with—and which car she will drive home in—for the remainder of the night.
